Adobe Acrobat 7 serial auto-complete
We are installing Adobe Acrobat 7.0 for several teachers in the school system. As anyone who has installed an Adobe product can attest, the serial number is quite long. Typing in that number slows your install process (just a little). Here is how you can have the setup process automatically fill in the serial number for you.
- Copy the contents of the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 CD to a folder on your computer.
- Change the Read Only attribute of the setup.ini file to Read-Write.
- Under [Startup], next to CmdLine=, add the following:
- Substitute your serial number for the X’s
ISX_SERIALNUMBER=XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
- Save the setup.ini file.
- Copy all the files to a CD, or a network share from which you can install the software.
You can now fly through the installation without having to input the serial number. I have read that this works for other Adobe products but I haven’t tested it on anything but Acrobat 7.0 Standard.
For even more options on customizing Adobe Acrobat installations, check out the Installsheild Tuner. Adobe provides it for Adobe Acrobat/Reader 6.0 & 7.0. This tool allows you to customize many aspects of an Acrobat/Reader installation.
