Crossing the $5 cup-o-coffee line

I can’t believe I actually paid over $5 for a cup of coffee. It was a little Christmas gift to myself because I was feeling a little sluggish but….$5…..for coffee? Unbelievable.

In the past, I ranted against Starbucks. I couldn’t see how anyone would pay $3 for a small (Tall in their world) cup of coffee. That is until I tried a Caramel Macchiato. Normally, the Grande (medium) comes with two shots of expresso but I can’t have a weak coffee. I add another shot of expresso which brings the total cost to a little over $4. I only get it about once every two weeks because I’d go broke if I purchased one every time I wanted one (every hour or so). I don’t get it watered down with soy milk or nonfat milk. Whole milk with all the fat and cholesterol that moves the caffiene into my blood even faster is the only way to go.

Today, I had to have more because I was dragging. I went in to Starbucks and ordered a Quad Grande Caramel Macchiato (that’s exactly how to order it). Four shots of expresso. The total for this caffiene beast was $5.13. Friends, it was well worth it. Think back about your best sugar rush as a child and multiply that by 1,000. That feeling will be close to the caffiene rush I’ve got going.

I am now wide awake and ready to work on my database some more. Thanks Starbucks.
