No DirecTV for me
It’s true. I had to cancel the installation and get a refund on the DVR purchase. The DirecTV DVR requires two (2) physical cable runs. I only have one behind my television and the technicians couldn’t run another one.
The reason the technician couldn’t run another cable was because of the location of my TV, my house has a slab foundation and it’s a two story (TV on first floor). The TV is not located on an outside wall so they would have had to drill through an outer wall and run the cable around the base board. Then, they would have to stretch the cable across an open space, leaving the cable exposed.
The funny part was when the technician called his office to tell them the order was cancelled. They must have transferred him to his supervisor because the tech handed me the phone and said, “My super wants to talk to you.” The supervisor asked me, “Can you move your television to an outside wall?” I told him no so they cancelled the order.
I hope this won’t affect my discounts with BellSouth too much. I know I’ll lose one rebate but it covered the DVR purchase, which I’m getting back. My friend has service from Dish Network and they can use a stacker/dstacker in order to send two signals over a single cable. Many Google searches, as well as a couple of calls to DirecTV, revealed that stacking doesn’t work well with DirecTV when recording two different channels at the same time.
My 6 Mb DSL gets connected on March 3rd. I’m more excited about that than I was the DirecTV install anyway.
