It’s been a day or two
It’s been a while since I last updated this site. Between my professional and personal life, I’ve had ZERO time to post any updates. Thankfully, that has changed and I am going to be updating on a regular basis.
I miss writing the How-To’s the most. The problem with How-To’s is that there are so many already out there. I’ll just have to find a way to make mine stand out.

Direction determines speed
See if this makes sense to you. I was driving to a client’s house yesterday to fix a computer. As soon as I turned on one of the roads, there was a speed limit sign showing 35 (north bound traffic). Almost a mile after passing that sign, another speed limit sign is on the other side of the road showing 45 mph (south bound traffic). There was no sign on the northbound side showing 45 mph.
What the hell? I wonder if anyone on the south bound side has ever been pulled over by a cop sitting on the north bound side for speeding even though they were going 45? I played it safe and took a different road home (one that has the same speed limit on both sides).
Before I forget: Happy New Year!

Answer: 72
Question: How many sparklers, bundled together on the end of a metal pole, does it take to make a wicked fireball?
The first one started sparkling like normal. Once it hit the other 71 in the bundle, there were no more sparkles. It was a pure, unadulterated ball of fire. It burned for about three seconds and it completely incinerated the sparkler sticks.
Next 4th of July, that number will be doubled (at least).

Death rattle
I’ve been under the weather since my last post. Starting four days ago, I would be lucky to get two hours of sleep because of the congestion. Breathing started to become over rated because of the rattling and wheezing noises. My voice also started sounding like puberty all over again.
I finally went to the doctor this morning. She ran a few test and took a chest X-ray. Good news is that I don’t have pneumonia. The bad news is that I have a cold, sinus infection and bronchitis. I’ve stocked up on OJ so the Florida orange growers should get a nice bonus this year.
Better, more informative post are coming. Stay tuned.
I’ve seen the end, and there is no light. Like deadly snakes, death rattle shakes.

What a week
What a week it’s been. I’ve been running full blast since my last post a week ago. The reason is that I’m trying to finish up the main bulk of one of the web/database projects at work. It needs to be finished within the next four days. Once that’s complete, the big project begins.
The big project is the Cisco Clean Access implementation. I’m in charge of setting it up at 16 locations (schools, offices, etc.). I’ve already started configuring one of the management servers with the base, or global, policies. I’ll start configuring the site servers on Tuesday. The site servers will hold the site specific policies.
I’ve also been helping a friend with his website. He’s trying to use WordPress as a CMS because he’s tried CMS’ like Joomla and Drupal but found them too difficult. His site is pretty basic so he’s going to use the WordPress pages feature for most of his content. He hasn’t decided if he wants to create any blog post. If he does, he can set one of the static pages as the blog display.
It’s been fun helping him out. I’ve started learning a little more about web design and PHP. Those are two things I’ve been wanting to learn but haven’t found the time. Most of the work is tweaking an existing template in order to have it display the way he wants. We’re both learning as we go.
Here’s to a three day weekend. The calm before the storm.
